Our Approach

Rooted in Orthodoxy, Rich in Learning

Arizona Christian Preschool is something new and joyful for families in the growing West Valley. A full academic day, gently held together by prayer, the feasts of the Church, and the everyday habits of virtue. Your child’s earliest school memories will be shaped by warm greetings, songs, stories, hands-on play, and quiet moments of thanksgiving.

☦

Faith Formed Daily

Morning prayer, seasonal feasts, saints’ stories, quiet moments before an icon, and a weekly Greek word tucked gently into the rhythm of each day.

✏️

Academically Strong

Frog Street’s research-based preschool curriculum builds literacy, math, STEAM, and social-emotional skills so children meet, and often exceed, their early-learning milestones.

⭐

Classical Pathway

Habits of attention, virtue, and beautiful language prepare children to step into Arizona Christian Academy Scottsdale’s K through 3 classical program with confidence and joy.

The Curriculum

Frog Street and Orthodoxy, Woven Into One Beautiful Day

The academic backbone is Frog Street, a nationally recognized preschool program used in high-performing early-learning centers across the country. Wherever the day opens space for prayer, virtue, or wonder, our own Orthodox curriculum steps gently in. Not as an add-on, but as the thread that holds the whole fabric together.

Academic Core

Nine themes across the year, taught through play

(Frog Street)

  • Literacy & Language: daily read-alouds, vocabulary cards, phonological awareness, print concepts, and growing letter knowledge.
  • Math: shape and attribute study, counting, patterns, measurement, and comparison through play.
  • STEAM & Inquiry: hands-on science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics investigation.
  • Social-Emotional (Conscious Discipline): Brain Smart Start rituals of unite, calm, connect, and commit.
  • Music, Movement & Mindful Movement: daily songs, gentle stretching, and calming transitions.
  • Learning Centers: Literacy, Math, Creativity, Construction, Fine Motor, Dramatic Play, and Science.

Orthodox Formation

Each week: an anchor, a virtue, a word, a Greek connection

(ACA Year A)

  • Sacred Anchors: Scripture and feasts introduced age-appropriately — Creation, the Cross, Theophany, Pascha, and the lives of the saints.
  • Virtues: wonder, gratitude, reverence, courage, kindness, humility, forgiveness, joy — practiced, not merely named.
  • Prayer Rhythm: opening prayer, closing thanksgiving, and mindful moments of stillness throughout the day.
  • Iconography & Feasts: reverent noticing of holy images, seasonal processions, and church-year milestones.
  • Greek Connection: one Greek word per week — kalimera, agape, eirini, chara — carried into greetings and closings.
  • Practical Life & Grace: pouring, folding, table-setting, service, and courtesy modeled every day.

💡

How the two fit together: A Frog Street week on shapes and lines becomes the perfect week to notice the vertical and horizontal lines of the Holy Cross. A week on friends becomes a week on Christ’s love of neighbor. The academics never lose their rigor — they gain their meaning.

Questions Parents Ask

Frequently Asked

Does my family have to be Orthodox to enroll?

No. Families of every background are warmly welcomed. Our program is unmistakably Orthodox Christian — prayer, feasts, and the lives of the saints are woven into every day — and families who choose us tell us they want their children to grow up steeped in reverence, virtue, and academic excellence, whatever their own tradition.

What ages do you serve, and are there separate classrooms?

We enroll children from 2½ through 5 years old, across our preschool and pre-K rooms. Our curriculum names three developmental levels — Lambs, Doves, and Disciples — so lessons meet each child where they are, from sensory imitation for our youngest to leadership and narration for our oldest.

Is enrollment full-time only?

Yes. Our academic day is designed as a continuous rhythm — greeting, learning, worship, and rest — that only works when the same children are present each day. Aftercare, however, is fully flexible: pay per day, only when you need it.

How does the classical pathway work?

Arizona Christian Preschool is intentionally designed to feed the K–3 classical program at Arizona Christian Academy Scottsdale. Children graduate ready to enter Kindergarten with the habits of attention, virtue, and beautiful language that a classical education asks for from day one.

What curriculum do you use for academics?

Frog Street — a nationally-recognized, research-based preschool curriculum. It gives our teachers a rigorous, milestone-aligned framework for literacy, math, STEAM, and social-emotional development, which we then weave together with our own Orthodox formation curriculum.

When does the school year begin?

Our doors open September 28, 2026. Enrollment is open now, and tours are available by appointment.
